Brief Bio
Dr. Sesil Koutra is an Engineer of Urban Planning and Design with master studies in Project and Construction Management. After a professional pathway on European project consulting and cadastral studies, she joined the University of Mons (Belgium). Since 2022, Sesil has been an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and a Lecturer of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree on Smart Cities and Communities (https://www.smaccs.eu/) (Faculty of Engineering) of the University of Mons (Belgium). Her PhD studies focused on energy autarky at urban scales, with postdoctoral research on the Positive Energy Districts. Her research interests are pursued with the topics of energy communities from architectural, urban, and technical perspectives and the author of more than 80 publications in journals and conferences.
